Simple: Eat vegetables.
As an end-all, be-all, the only way to get rid of unwanted pounds is to eat veggies. Vegetables, especially dark green vegetables, are leaner, higher in fiber, and packed with nutrients. They’re also extremely inexpensive.
You don’t usually have to spend much time cooking. Just throw some broccoli in a bowl, toss in some shredded carrots, green beans or other dark leafy veggies, toss in some chopped red peppers or small red onions. Set it all in the microwave for the recommended cooking time.
I like to prepare one meal a day on my nightstand.
On the morning of the day I want to lose the weight, I just grab my favorite foods and head to work. I’m also always thinking about what dinner I should be eating on my next date because I’ve always hated cooking and am always hungry.
I usually put together a simple healthy meal from scratch along with a bottle of water and a few other options. I usually make it vegan (or something completely plant-based). Even if the meal is healthy, it just doesn’t sit well with me. I feel like the thought of cooking or buying ingredients to cook or eat doesn’t sit well with me either.
I use a kitchen scale.
Just one of these things has been a significant life changer for me – the ability to weigh my food accurately. It gives me more confidence if I am sure my food is truly what I bought instead of what they call an organic, free range “pest-free” and “free range” chicken breast from another company.
I have a meal plan.
Not only does it help to get rid of extra pounds, it gets me started and it helps me keep the focus on my diet. My meal plan is:
Monday = Breakfast
Tuesday = Rice and oatmeal
Wednesday = 1 or 2 servings of broccoli (preferably shredded)
Thursday or Friday = 3-4 servings of vegetables (I always have fresh ones, but I can add some dried if needed to create a dish)
Saturday = 2-3 servings of cooked vegetables or soup, sometimes a little fruit
Sunday = 2-3 servings of cooked vegetables
After three days in a row of the above meals, I start to notice how hungry I am and how much time I am going to spend at the kitchen cutting and chopping.
