Yes. There is a commercial market for saffron that we have set up ourselves, and we can supply the highest quality and the most expensive varieties, however, we only have 10 kilogrammes of saffron at the moment. This requires many trips to markets, on our bicycles, in the train, and over the sea.
How much would the price to me of saffron worth if I were to buy it from Europe?
If it is imported, the price would be around 10,000 dollars per kilogramme. Since there is no commercial market for saffron, you can only obtain a very high quality saffron that is only available in Europe. If you are able to secure a large quantity, the price may go up a lot.
The number of new cars on UK roads has reached a six-year low, government figures show.
The ONS reported that there were 24.1m new cars on the road in the three months up to July 31 this year, down by 7.0m (0.7 per cent) on the final three months of 2012.
Meanwhile, the number of registrations of passenger cars jumped 18.3 per cent to 12.6m in the June quarter, the figures show.
On top of the overall falls in passenger car registrations, the year-on-year rise in registrations of light trucks has caused the numbers of passenger cars to shrink by over 2m to 1.4m between 2012 and 2013.
The new car sales figures for June 2013 reflect new registrations for the full three months of the year.
In the same three months of 2013, car registrations rose by 8.5 per cent to 2.4m, while light trucks registered a further 3.5 per cent rise to 6.1m, according to the ONS.
The Government’s target of 20 per cent growth in the number of cars on UK roads by 2025 is due to be published by the end of 2013.
However, Mr Osborne said the number of cars registered in 2013 was now more in line with recent figures for the early part of the year. He added there appeared to be a “very slight slowdown” in new car registrations in the first part of the year compared to that of the month of June.
“As I said earlier today, there is no reason why they shouldn’t continue to do it,” he told the Conservative party conference. “The car industry knows that in
