I think the cost to have your violin repaired, re-voiced, tuned and fixed, is less than the cost of a good instrument.
How many violins do you own?
I own 7+ violins, and 3 of them are my children. I have over 100 violin and string instruments.
What do you consider your best instrument?
My children’s favorite violin.
Do you have any hobbies?
I love to read to my children and to write.
If you knew the time would come when you want to travel, where would you go?
I would go back to Italy and then possibly Europe.
We recently discovered a new version of OpenXML and have gone ahead and released it to everyone who wanted to try it out: openxml2.0.2 . OpenXML provides a high-level API for dealing with XML documents. One of the biggest differences between xml2 and xml is that xml2 uses the XML Standard (a subset of XML that provides syntax for all the other forms). OpenXML on the other hand is just XML. It will work with all the other types of XML, including HTML, though not quite as well. The release was in celebration of the 5th anniversary of the document class specification: the XML standard was born. However, there’s another reason why this release was a big deal: we are now moving into the 3.6.x phase of the specification. This time will be more focused on stability and speed. I’m also excited to release a new, free software tool to help those working in OXT: wxml2p . It has a whole new interface (which will be easier to use than org.xml.wextra ) and a whole new set of features. For now I’d encourage you to use it at https://github.com/m0x/wextra/wxyz . If you have anything to recommend something that is already available, please let me know. Thanks to every single one of the people I’ve gotten to collaborate with on this project during the 5 years it’s been underway (people like Kevin Pendergast, Dave Hickey, Eric Waring, Rob Pike, Andrew Aiken, Adam Karp, Eric Lippartz, and Chris Smith).
There’s a number of new things in this release, but the biggest feature is that we have added a new (for now, free software) XML/JAX
