Can Photoshop do everything Lightroom can? – Principles Of Photo Editing

August 7, 2020

Sure it could.

Unfortunately, Adobe doesn’t actually sell Photoshop skills, not in the USA, not in the UK, and not anywhere else. I’m not sure about any European countries…

The other issue I have is that I want Photoshop to work better with the newer version of Lightroom (10.2 & 10.3 & 11.0) that is now out. Adobe made a number of fixes to Photoshop CS6, in particular some of the worst errors. Adobe says that they have a fix for the “Panda” bug, but that’s not very helpful. There’s still no fix for the “ghosting” bug, with which Adobe seems to have been caught. I have also found Adobe’s support emails to be woefully inadequate: I had to call again and again and again. I called again and again. When some of these other users have had problems with the software, the company doesn’t do anything. They don’t do anything. They don’t do anything useful.

And if you know Photoshop, you really have no excuse for using it. Photoshop has a number of tools that can do just about everything you can do with Lightroom without needing Photoshop skills whatsoever. In this way, you can work with lots of different kind of photographers. But it’s far more painful than Adobe’s Photoshop skills.

So that gets me to the issue at hand. How do I want to work with my clients?

I want my clients to use my software.

There’s a reason I’m not an Adobe devotee. I work with a lot of professionals, and when they get me into the software that they’re using, they want me to be a good friend. I want to help them. I want to help them find the right tools for the job. So it hurts me badly to see people using software that is far superior to what I recommend. In fact, as I write this, I’m still seeing Photoshop skills being
