A new study shows that many of the brain’s major regions change when exposed to different levels of exposure to light, including ultraviolet and blue light. The study in the journal Nature Geoscience is a proof of concept study that shows how it is possible to develop a drug that can counterbalance those changes.

The most recent and widely reported example is of course “The Wizard of Oz,” where the heroine Dorothy takes on the titular fairy-tale figure and is subsequently tortured by Dorothy’s evil sister Selma (Loretta Swit) to ensure her survival. The other film, in which Dorothy is presented as a naïve young girl, was the classic “Doll” and was nominated for seven Oscars.
