Because we have a detailed, step-by-step drawing tutorial for you!
We’ll start by drawing a simple, single-stage, single-point, single-element shape. The idea is to use a flat, circular template to help you lay out the elements (a shape or two, if required) along the perimeter of the shape. That gives you a solid base to start your initial sketching; we’ll move on to more advanced elements in subsequent steps as necessary.
It’s a good idea to keep your shapes and lines straight when beginning to sketch out your first Mustang. To do this, draw your lines as shown in our earlier tutorial and begin to make them parallel.
Step Four: Drawing the Interior Section
The next step requires more effort since it requires more time. What you’ve laid out as an outline here is not going to be the finished product. The end product you create may be very close, but it’s not going to look as good as the final rendering if you start at such a low point.
Once you’ve finished laying out your basic design, it’s time to actually “draw” the interior. The first thing is to make sure you have enough fill to complete the outline. To do this, you will need to create a “line” of fill that extends from the outer edge of the design, but stays well out of the lines. In our illustration below, we have two empty lines: one at the point where the “line” extends, and one farther out to the right of the design. There is enough fill to draw it with no further effort.
Step Five: Determining the Size of the Mustang
The first thing to establish when starting to draw out your Mustang is their size. A nice Mustang requires some patience, so it’s important to pay attention to detail so you know where the details are. Your goal after drawing your interior is to get the size and pattern right. In our example below, we’ll see how the initial drawing fits together to provide a finished result.
As you can see, it’s very difficult to get the proportions right here (you’ve made it harder than it needs to be). Try adding two or three “lines” of fill somewhere along the perimeter of the shape to help fill up the “blob” between your initial lines of fill. You’ll notice this area is still quite dark.
With this information in hand, it’s time to decide the size and shape of
