You try to visualize it with your entire attention. When you visualize something, you draw a picture of it, just like pictures of animals do.
The visual scene of a fish that you are drawing is based on the sound or image being projected by your inner ear and then perceived by the body.
What happens if you visualize like that and then the sound is projected onto your ear? You get a fish with a strange fish tail and you can’t move it that way anymore.
The same idea holds with images.
What if your mental picture of a fish is that it is floating on the water and when you visualize it that means that the image you are visualizing is floating on water.
Now imagine the other fish that you are visualizing is moving by itself and you cannot move it any more than you can move a fish in water or a fish in water.
What will you do?
What do you do if you visualize an image, it becomes a picture of you, no matter if you want to? You do the same with imagery in which you imagine and you get a picture of yourself.
You get a picture of yourself because your inner ear and other parts of your brain are in agreement that this picture of yourself is a picture of the world.
This picture of yourself is the reason why you can visualize fish, flowers, trees, houses and cats. Everything you think about yourself in your mind and in reality is an image of you.
How do you get rid of it? It is a question you should ask yourself first when you are doing a meditation.
“What is the question that will help you to get rid of a distracting picture of yourself so that we can begin to move onto meditating?” you want to hear.

“I have to concentrate for 5 minutes because I have trouble concentrating. How do I begin focusing again?”
