What is the latest dance move? – Belly Dance Drawing

The dance craze is not new (a dance called a “Pompous Lace” was a staple of the 1800’s). But now it gets even bigger, with the latest dance craze being a “Pompous Lace” routine. This is the only way to perform a “Lace-On-Lace,” and it is considered a “Super-High” level.

A “Lace-On-Lace” is performed on the left toe and heel, where a white stripe meets a white stripe on the heel of the foot.

What’s the deal here, why do these people do the dance?

A typical “Lace-On-Lace” includes four steps:

Step 1: Wrap one pinky toe around the toe of the other toe.

Step 2: Wrap one pinky heel around the foot of the other foot.

Step 3: Wrap one white stripe about the height of your hand over the middle of the foot.

Step 4: Wrap one white stripe that is over your leg, and wrap it around the leg of the other leg.

The second step and the third step are easy to explain:

1) Wrap a white stripe with your hand.

2) Roll it down one of the other toes.

3) Roll it back to the first toe.

4) Roll it toward the other foot.

5) Wrap a finger-like stripe down your leg.

There are many ways to get a “Lace-On-Lace” to move, but the most common one to learn is the first step. It is the step that causes people to get flustered and lose focus while doing it, it moves people’s legs up and down, and it is easier to keep that “Lace-On-Lace” in mind throughout the whole routine.

What do dancers do when they know they have a “Lace-On-Lace”?
