I’ve had some clients on staff who were dancing all day long. The most efficient way to do that is by putting them in a chair and having them take a few sets of 10-15 minutes each. That way, they’re not hitting the gym because they have to, but because they can.
Is there anything I can do to improve my dancing? It sounds like there is; I really don’t know if the answer is that I can do it a little better. When I was doing ballet at university, I thought it was a pretty straightforward exercise and that the only skill you needed was a good sense of timing. If you have some experience in an artistic or competitive or professional dance, it may not be as difficult—or you may find the skills transferable to other areas of your life. As this conversation continues, I’m interested to hear any questions you have, and the most basic ones, too; like, when did you come up with that whole idea to do that little dance piece with the foot on the floor… [It turns out] I never had a good idea for why people would do it.
Are there anything else I should know? It’s one of the most common questions that I get—not that I would ever try it! I’m really happy to talk about it, though.
